The first two episodes of ‘RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race’ premiered on VH1
One episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race just isn’t enough. This spring is filled with plenty of Drag Race-related content — from season 12 of the reality series to the spinoff show, Untucked, to RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race. In this new reality series, celebrities are mentored by former contestants for a chance to win the title and a cash prize for a charity of their choice.
“RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race is a blast,” RuPaul said in a statement. “We put these celebrities through it! Because no matter how famous your charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent is, you still put your pantyhose on one leg at a time.”
Last week’s episode included celebrities Vanessa Williams, Tami Roman, and Loni Love, with Vanessa William’s alter-ego, Vanquisha Da Haus. The first episode included celebrities Jordan Connor, Jermaine Fowler, and Nico Tortorella. Jordan Connor’s drag persona, Babykins La Roux, won this episode of the competition series.
‘Drag Race fans’ want to see actress and singer Hayley Kiyoko on the series
There are only a few episodes of Celebrity Drag Race left. As a result, some fans are already making their wish list of celebrities they would like to see. One of the most mentioned is former Lemonade Mouth actress, Hayley Kiyoko, who has since gone on to pursue a career in music and advocating for the LGBTQ community.
“The only reason I’m excited for Celebrity Drag Race is Nico Tortorella and Hayley Kiyoko….. like literally, that’s it,” one Twitter user said.
“Hayley Kiyoko being on Celebrity Drag Race will be the only valid thing about Celebrity Drag Race,” another Twitter user wrote about the singer.
Former One Direction member, Harry Styles
As an advocate for the LGBTQ community, some fans hope to see Harry Styles during this series. He would be coming hot off the heels of his album release, Fine Line. One Twitter user said, “two episodes left if I don’t see Harry Edward Styles at #celebritydragrace after all those tweets I will freak out. Am I asking for too much.”
“PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN HARRY STYLES COMPETE ON SECRET CELEBRITY RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE PLEASE,” another Twitter user wrote.
Award-winning actress and performer Meryl Streep
There are a few celebrities who often advocate for the LGBTQ community who have yet to appear in this reality series as a judge or competitor. That includes actresses like Meryl Streep and Laura Dern.
As with the already-released episodes, fans won’t know which celebrities are sashaying into the Werk Room until the episode airs. Other guests fans hope will make an appearance include Pentatonix performers Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi, Mulan and Aladdin performer Lea Salonga, and Peppermint’s partner for the makeover challenge on season 9, Wintergreen.
New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race premiere on a weekly basis on VH1.
