Holly's home, which she purchased back in 2014 for $3.3million, also enjoys the benefit of a spacious, south-facing garden, accessible via a large deck. It also includes a garden-level one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, ideal for renting out, or to serve as an annex.

Georgia-born Holly has been in a relationship with British actor Gordon MacDonald since 2001, and they have 12-year-old sons Claude and Press together.

Brooklyn has attracted a host of stars over the years, including Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Williams, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Rock and, more recently, Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski.

Among her long list of celebrity friends, Holly has a long history with fellow acclaimed actress Frances McDormand — and the pair were once roommates.

Telling Vulture of how they came to meet, she explained: 'My boyfriend and Fran’s boyfriend were best friends. I met mine doing a play at the Repertory Theater of St. Louis, and then I came back to New York.

'He said, “Hey, my best friend is going to Yale, let’s visit.” And his girlfriend was Fran. The four of us hit it off, and we all moved to the North Bronx. We got two apartments, one for each couple. Then we broke up with our boyfriends and Fran moved in with me.'

Adding that Fran was 'fantastic' to live with, she continued: 'Fran’s as fabulous as she seems. We had a blast. We stayed up there for a couple years, and then she did Blood Simple. After that, [writer-director] Joel Coen sort of moved in with us and they eventually got married. It was a great chapter.'

In February, Here And Now star Holly opened up about the change she felt her career had taken after the cancellation of her three-season drama Saving Grace, which debuted in 2007 to critical acclaim.

After taking two years off following the end of the show, she learned that the quality of the roles she had come to enjoy were a tad more difficult to come by.

'After Saving Grace, I didn't want to work,' she told The Hollywood Reporter. The schedule of that show — and being an executive producer — was so relentless that I was like, "Wow, I need to take some time off."

'I didn't want to work for almost two years. And then when I did want to work, the stuff that was out there for me to do … were not some of the greatest projects of my career.'

She has since appeared in a number of high-profile projects, including a role in the romantic comedy The Big Sick and romantic drama Song To Song, alongside the likes of Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett.

Holly also lends her voice to the Helen Parr / Elastigirl in the 3D computer-animated superhero film Incredibles 2, which is set to debut internationally next month.
