It’s Ben’s 2nd favorite movie of all-time (2nd only to Hoosiers), and I’ve always loved it, but tonight when we re-watched it… It really moved me. Have you seen it lately? If you have AMC, I have a feeling you have at least twice this week. Just the way Forrest so simply and honestly loved his girl Jenny… Oh it gives me shivers. I especially love two quotes. The part where he tells the lady on the bench: “You know it’s funny what a young man recollects? ‘Cause I don’t remember bein’ born. I don’t recall what I got for my first Christmas and I don’t know when I went on my first outdoor picnic. But I do remember the first time I heard the sweetest voice in the wide world.”
And at the end, when Forrest is standing at Jenny’s grave, he says this: “I don’t know if Momma was right or if, if it’s Lieutenant Dan. I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it’s both.”
I agree with Forrest. Life is a series of happy accidents, tragedies, milestones and triumphs, and only God knows what’s going to happen next.
Yeah, you’re going to need to go out and rent it. Right away.
